DIY: Quiet Book - Die Bindung mit Ösen

Es gab zwei Bindungen für Euch zur Wahl, heute zeige ich Euch, 

wie Ihr eine Ringbindung machen könnt.

Diese ist für grössere Kinder gut geeignet, man kann Seiten austauschen 

und auch neue Seiten dazutun.

 Dazu braucht Ihr:

- Ösen in 8 - 10 mm

- 2 Buchbinderringe im Ø 50 - 55 mm oder 2 Rundkarabiner gleicher Grösse

- Werkzeug: entweder Ösenzange, Variozange oder Schlagwerkzeug aus der Packung

- evt. Wonderdots (hier findet Ihr eine Gebrauchsanleitung), 

diese verhindern ein Ausreissen der Ösen

- Lochzange

There were two bindings for you to choose from, today I'll show you

how to make a ring bond.

This is well suited for older children, you can exchange pages

and to add new pages as well.

  You need:

- eyelets in 8 - 10 mm

- 2 bookbinder rings in Ø 50 - 55 mm or 2 round carabiners of the same size

- Tool: either oen pliers, Vario pliers or impact tool from the pack

- maybe Wonderdots (here you find an instruction manual),

These prevent tearing out of the eyelets

- Punching pliers

An der linken Seite der Buchseite die Mitte markieren (Schneiderkreide oder Stecknadel).

Mark the center on the left side of the book page (tailor's chalk or pin).

Ihr braucht zunächst für eine Seite zwei Ösen mit Scheiben

First you need two eyelets with discs for one side

Dann die Stellen für die Ösen markieren:

ca. 6- 8 cm vom unteren Rand

 (je nachdem ob Ihr die Seiten mit Schrägband eingefasst habt)

Then mark the places for the eyelets:

about 6-8 cm from the bottom edge

  (depending on whether you have edged the pages with bias tape)

und etwa 2 - 2,5 cm vom Rand entfernt 

and about 2 - 2.5 cm from the edge

Stellen mit einem wasserlöslichen Stift markieren.

Mann kann auch Wonderdots aufbügeln, wenn die Stellen ausreissgefährdet sind.

Mark areas with a water-soluble pen.

You can also iron on Wonderdots if the spots are risky.

Die Ösen auflegen und den Umriss innen aufzeichnen (Bleistift)

Put on the eyelets and record the outline inside (pencil)

Ihr erhaltet eine genaue Markierung vom Innendurchmesser der Öse.

You will receive a precise mark from the inner diameter of the eyelet.

Mit der Lochzange in die markierte Stelle stanzen.

Punch with the punch in the marked area.

Den Kreis mit einer spitzen Schere ausschneiden.

Cut out the circle with sharp scissors.

Der Niethals wird nun durch das Loch gesteckt und der Ring von der anderen Seite dagegen. Die erhabene Wölbung zeigt dabei nach oben.

Mit der Zange zusammendrücken (siehe Tutorial), es ist dann ein Knacken zu hören.

With the pliers squeeze (see tutorial), it is then hear a crack.

Die erste Öse sitzt!

Die zweite Öse genauso befestigen.Fix the second eyelet as well.

Die nächste Seite wird unter die erste gelegt, so das sie übereinander liegen.

Passt! 

Dann markiert man durch die bereits liegenden Ösen die Stellen für die nächsten Ösen. 

Watch out!

Das wiederholt man, bis alle Seiten mit Ösen versehen sind.

Repeat until all sides have eyelets.

Nun führt man die Ringe durch die Ösen und schliesst sie.

Now you guide the rings through the eyelets and close them.

Man ordnet nun alle Seiten, so das sie ordentlich übereinander liegen, so wie das Buch später aussehen soll. Jetzt markiert man die Stelle, an der der zweite Kam-Snap für den Verschluss an die Lasche kommen soll. Mit der Ahle ein Loch stechen.

You now arrange all the pages, so that they are neatly on top of each other, as the book should look like later. Now you mark the place where the second Kam-Snap for the closure should come to the tab. Make a hole with the awl.

Den Stud mit der Zange befestigen, Lasche schliessen.

Fix the stud with the pliers, close the tab.

DIY: Quietbook - Seiten mit Schrägband einfassen

Wer seine Seiten gerne mit Schrägband einfassen möchte, erfährt hier heute mehr darüber.

Also:

Man kann natürlich Schrägband fertig kaufen - aber wenn man schon so ein individuelles Projekt wie ein Quietbook hat, kann man auch tolles Schrägband selbst herstellen.

Man braucht dazu nur einen Schrägbandformer.

Mein Schrägbandformer ist für Schrägband mit einer Breite von 2,5 cm. Das war hier einfach schöner und macht einen breiteren Abschluss.

So:

You can of course buy bias binding - but if you have such an individual project as a Quietbook, you can also make great bias binding yourself. All you need is a bias band shaper.

My bias band shaper is for bias binding with a width of 2.5 cm. 

This was just nicer and makes a broader graduation.

Zuerst schneidet man Streifen zu, die doppelt so breit sind, wie die gewünschte Breite für das Schrägband, also hier 5 cm. Wenn man einen Former für 1,8 cm hat, 

müssen die Streifen 3,6 cm breit sein. 

Dafür kann man auch Stoffreste nehmen und das Schrägband bunt gestalten. 

First you cut strips that are twice as wide as the desired width for the bias binding, 

so here 5 cm. If you have a former for 1.8 cm,

the strips must be 3.6 cm wide.

You can also take fabric scraps and make the bias binding colorful.

Bandsalat...

man benötigt für ein 10 Seiten Buch 5 Streifen mit einer Länge von ca. 115 cm Band.

You need 5 stripes for a 10 pages book with a length of about 115 cm band.

Die Streifen werden, wie im Tutorial zu sehen ist, schräg zusammengenäht in einem Winkel von 45 °. dadurch ist das Band elastisch.Mehrere Streifen zusammennähen, bis man die  gewünschte Länge erreicht.

Man kann auch Streifen mit geradem Ende zusammen nähen.

Auch werden die Enden rechts auf rechts zusammengelegt (90 ° Winkel)

Die Naht muss im 45° Winkel erfolgen .

Nach dem Nähen wird auseinander geklappt, gebügelt und die Nahtzugabe zurück geschnitten.

As you can see in the tutorial, the strips are sewn together at an angle of 45 °. this makes the band elastic. Sew together several strips until you reach the desired length.

You can also sew strips with a straight end together.

Also, the ends are folded right to right (90 ° angle)

The seam must be at 45 °.

After sewing, unfold, iron and cut the seam allowance back.

Jetzt in den Former einschieben, wie auf dem Bild zu sehen ist.

Man zieht einfach das Band durch den Schrägbandformer und dieser klappt die äußeren Kanten zur Mitte, so dass man jetzt beide Kanten in einem Bügelvorgang bügeln kann.

Nur noch in der Mitte zusammenklappen und bügeln, 

dann kann man das Band auch aufrollen.

 Das Schrägband auseinanderklappen und bündig an die Kante legen. Festpinnen oder mit Wonderclips feststecken. Dann genau knapp neben der Falz nähen,beginnend ca. 4 cm vom Anfang des Bandes

Wenn man eine Stoffbindung benutzt, wird der Anfang des Bandes von der Bindung verdeckt, dann kann man auch direkt am Anfang des Bandes anfangen zu nähen. Das Band wird immer an der linken Seite, wo die Bindung ist, angelegt.

Snaply Gebrauchsanleitung: Kanten mit Schrägband einfassen

Unfold the bias binding and place it flush with the edge. Pinning or pinning with Wonderclips. Then sew just next to the fold, starting approx. 4 cm from the beginning of the ribbon

um die Ecke legen und mit einer Stecknadel oder Clips fixieren.

Dann an der Kante entlang absteppen, beginnend an der Nahtzugabe.

Then stitch along the edge, starting at the seam allowance.

Hier findet Ihr noch Tipps und Tricks, 

wie man das Schrägband am Ende prima verbinden kann.

Wenn man z.B. anschließend eine Ringbindung macht, hat man einen sauberen Abschluss.

Dann auf die andere Seite umklappen

Then fold over to the other side

und mit rundherum mit Clips feststecken

and stuck with clips all around

Man kann jetzt entweder das Band mit der Hand oder der Maschine annähen. Mit der Hand sieht man absolut keine Nähte, wie beim quilten.

You can now either sew the tape by hand or machine. With the hand you can see absolutely no seams, as when quilting.

Fertig ! So verfährt man mit allen fünf Seiten. Dann ist man bereit für die Bindung.

DIY: Die Seiten Eures Quietbooks montieren

Heute beginnen wir, unsere Seiten zusammenzunähen, denn es geht an den Endspurt und die schwierige Phase :0)

Wenn dann alle Seiten fertiggestellt sind,müssen sie zusammengenäht werden. Dabei spielt die Überlegung eine Rolle, ob man die Seiten mit Schrägband umnähen will oder nicht :0)

....Schrägband, der gute alte Feind einer jeden Nähbegeisterten!

When all pages are finished, they need to be sewn together. The consideration plays a role, whether one wants to sew the sides with bias tape or not: 0)

Ich weiss! Aber es sieht toll aus, wenn man sich die Mühe macht.

Also: wer Schrägband verwendet, näht die Seiten einfach links auf links knappkantig zusammen. Versäubert wird mit Schrägband und man braucht die Seiten nicht wenden. Das ist manchmal prima, wenn man eine sehr aufwändige Seite hat, die nicht knicken soll.

I know! But it looks great when you bother.

Seite ohne Schrägbandeinfassung/without Bias tape

Die Seiten ohne Schrägband werden rechts auf rechts zussammengenäht, man lässt eine Öffnung durch die man die Seite wendet. Anschliessend wird einmal ringsum gesteppt.

The sides without bias tape are sewn together right to right, leaving an opening through which you turn the page. Then it is quilted all around.

Variante ohne Schrägband:

Die Seiten rechts auf rechts zusammenstecken. Ihr überlegt Euch dafür, in welcher Reihenfolge die Seiten stehen sollen.

Begonnen wird mit der Vorderseite und Seite 1.

Die Seiten werden rechts auf rechts zusammengelegt und festgepinnt. 

Die Wendeöffnung für die Seite muss immer links am Buch liegen. Diese wird dann bei der Stoffbindung vollständig verdeckt.

Variant without bias binding:

Put the pages together right to right. You are thinking about the order in which the pages should be.

It starts with the front and side 1.

The pages are folded right side together and pinned.

The turning opening for the page must always be on the left side of the book. This is then completely obscured in the fabric weave.

Alle Seiten sind fertig gepinnt. Ihr seht vielleicht auch meine Markierung, wo die Wendeöffnung bleibt (in blau)

All pages are pinned. You may also see my mark where the turn-around remains (in blue)

Bei der blauen Markierung fangt Ihr an abzusteppen, füsschenbreit.

At the blue marker you start to stalk, feet wide.

Einmal ringsum, bis zu der zweiten Markierung. 

Once around, until the second mark.

Die Wendeöffnung sollte ca. 9-10 cm gross sein.

The turning opening should be about 9-10 cm in size.

Nun kürzt Ihr die Nahtzugaben etwas ein und beschneidet die Ecken.

Now you shorten the seam allowances a little and cut the corners.

Ich kürze auch immer das Vlies an der Wendeöffnung,

 dann lässt sie sich besser schliessen.

Anschliessend die Seite wenden, die Ecken gut ausformen und vorsichtig bügeln.

Dabei besonders mit der Vinylfolie aufpassen!! 

Bloss nicht mit dem Bügeleisen draufkommen :0)

I also always shorten the fleece at the turn-around opening, then it closes better.

Then turn the page, form the corners well and iron gently.

Pay special attention to the vinyl film !!

Just do not come with the iron: 0)

Fertig!

Die Wendeöffnungen werden mit einem Überwendlingstich per Hand geschlossen,

 wenn Ihr die Seiten so lassen wollt.

Man kann aber auch jede Seite einmal ringsum knappkantig absteppen und gleichzeitig die Öffnung damit schliessen.

Jetzt müsst Ihr Euch für eine Bindung entscheiden. Ganz aus Stoff sieht toll aus und ist wunderbar weich, keine Verletzungsgefahr für die ganz Kleinen.

Die Ringbindung ermöglicht es Euch, Seiten dazuzunähen oder auch mal etwas auszutauschen. dafür braucht Ihr Ösen und Binderinge.
